My favorite bands are all age 30+.

By Blog

Kellee and I met some friends at the Black Cat on Wed. to see Obits open for Pinback. I’m a big fan of everything Rick Froberg has been involved in. Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes are all on my favorite bands list. Through my own forgetfulness I have missed Obits the last two times they came to DC. I was hoping that their tour with Disappears would roll through, but alas…no luck. So when I saw this show announced I was sure to set a reminder on my calendar. It was great and I was not disappointed. I haven’t been able to stop listening to their record “I blame you” since I got it.

New work, upcoming show and another monday

By Blog

New work from New Mexico is up on the site. It’s a good thing I’m my own boss when it comes to this site or I’d be in trouble. I’ll be adding more and tweaking things for sure, so check back soon. I’m also going to be part of the 6th Annual Transformer Gallery Auction. This is the third time I’ve been asked to take part and it’s always fun and a really good party. Transformer has been really good to me and is a great gallery so if you can swing it, you should go and bid on some art. In addition to that I submitted some work for possible use in a new restaurant in town. Don’t really know much about it so I’m not going to get into details until I do. Now to just get all the pictures from Chad and Lisa’s wedding done and up. Sleep first. I’m not looking forward to you Monday.

Rainy Saturday

By Blog

The last couple of weeks have been super busy at work. Today is the first day that I have been able to sit down and focus on photographs. I’ve been at it for about 4 or so hours. Figured I’d take a quick break and get one new image up here and then continue working to get the rest on the site. I’m pretty pleased with what I have. I think that the time between shooting and editing is tuning out to be a good thing. It gives me a little distance and allows me to look at things a bit fresher. Seem to be making better choices about which images work and which don’t. More to chose from than I originally thought as well. Back to it.

White Sands: Day 2

By Blog

Yesterday was the second day at White Sands. It was amazing. I was out walking around the dunes for about 3 hours. It was an incredible experience to be out there in this huge field of almost nothing. I think I saw one other person and he was probably like a quarter of a mile away. Had lunch on top a dune and just sat for a bit. On the way back toward Las Cruces and on to Deming, I stopped at Missile Park to look around. I was told I could only take pictures facing the mountains and not down onto the missile range. I wonder if someone was actually watching me to see that I followed the rules. Didn’t really feel like pushing it though. I learned a few important things there and on my trip to Deming, NM later in the day. Some of them you’d think I would have learned by now.

White Sands: Day 1

By Blog

I made it out to White Sands by about 5:30pm yesterday. Just in time to get that really great evening light. That place is pretty amazing. It’s so quiet. I would highly recommend visiting if you ever have the chance. I’m still working on the images I took, so I haven’t uploaded them to the site yet. Heading back out after I check out of the hotel to take more. I’m planning on being out there the whole day, then heading over to Deming,NM to meet up with the rest of the DC people coming in for the wedding. Going to try to get some stuff up tonight.

Pictures and a wedding

By Blog No Comments

I’m on my way to New Mexico to go to Laura and Benjy’s wedding which is on the 10th. Going two days early so I can head out to White Sands National Monument to take pictures. This will be a sort of dry run for the trips I want to start making over the next year or so to. Eventually I’d like to get a nice body of work together to do a book.
